Programs
MEDAL LEAGUE is a program for young volleyball players who would like to have fun learning skills and
getting involved in competition against players at their own skill level. Rules have been altered to
accommodate young players. This program is dedicated to the development of volleyball by displaying good
sportsmanship at all levels. We believe that working together is the best way to achieve these goals.
Thanks for being a part of Medal league! Coaches Meeting will take place on January 23 at 6:00 PM in the CHS Lecture Lab.
*Teams will practice 1-2 times a week.*
There are four divisions for your players to choice:
COPPER: is for the beginner. They have not played school volleyball or club. A player may stay at the
Copper level until they feel they have the basics and are ready to move up. Most of the players in this division
are 5 th and 6 th graders.
BRONZE: is for the player who has at least one year experience either playing club or one year of school
volleyball. They have gone through the basics, but need the repetition to get the skills down. Most of the
players at this level are 6 th and 7 th graders.
SILVER: is for the player who has at least two years experience either playing club or two years of school
volleyball. They know and can do the basics fairly well. Most of the players at this level are in the 7 th and 8 th
graders.
GOLD: is for the skilled player. They have the basics learned and have pretty good ball control. They can
serve well. This player should have at least two years of volleyball experience either playing club or school
volleyball. Most of the players are in 8 th grade.
Teams: suggested to have no more than 10 on a team. Each site will require a registration form and
concussion form. First year players are required the sportsmanship rules signed, but could use for all levels.
Location: The practices will be held at your own schools with the schedule being provided by the site
coordinators. Teams usually practice once or twice per week.
Tournaments: Each site will host a minimum of two tournaments. The host school will provide a site-
coordinator, volleyballs, set-up and run the tournament. Nancy will provide tournament schedules to each site
at least 3 days before the tournament date. A concession stand would be great, but is optional. Tournaments
will be on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 – 3:30. There will be a short coaches meeting 30 minutes prior to
the start of all tournaments. All rules will be covered for that level and any concerns from the last tournament.
Please have your teams ready to go at the start time!
Coaches: the site coordinator recruits all of their site coaches. Site coordinators should train and meet with
their coaches to make sure everything will run smoothly at your site. All coaches should understand the rules
of the level they are coaching. Sportsmanship is a must. Remember this is a learning league.
Length of program: each site can start practicing whenever they would like. The league tournaments will be
on the last Sunday in Feb. and all of the Sunday’s in March. Copper will only participate in the last four
tournaments.
